A De Pere man is due for sentencing in a child sexual assault case.
70-year-old Joseph Schinkten was in court yesterday, where he was convicted on charges of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Possession of Child Pornography.
FOX 11 reports that the 15-year-old male victim told police that Schinkten had sexually assaulted him several times, and that he, the victim, had sent sexual photos to Schinkten.
A search of Schinkten’s phone did confirm the existence of explicit text messages and photos.
Even with all that evidence, Schinkten claimed he and the child had a “mentor” kind of relationship and that the messages were simply fantasy.
The former president of a De Pere funeral home is due for sentencing on October 16th.
