Ground has been broken on a local youth baseball field renovation project.
City officials joined Two Rivers Youth Sports, volunteers, and supporters last week to celebrate the beginning of updates for the Blue Field at Vietnam Veterans Park.
The project will transform the facility with a new 2,530-square-foot concessions building featuring public restrooms, a serving kitchen, storage space, a new press box, and new dugouts to serve the complex.
The project was made possible through a unique public-private partnership approved by the Two Rivers City Council late last year.
Two Rivers Youth Sports will make a significant private investment in the Blue Field and will be responsible for future operation, maintenance, and utilities.
The city will keep ownership of Vietnam Vets Park, making sure it remains a public asset while “leveraging private investment to enhance one of the community’s premier recreational facilities.”
The City of Two Rivers thanked everyone who worked hard to bring the vision to life and looks forward to watching construction progress.
