The mother and uncle of a six-year-old Milwaukee boy have been sentenced in connection with his 2025 shooting death.
Prosecutors say Da’quel Collins found an unsecured firearm and accidentally shot himself inside the family’s home.
Court records say his mother, Daquela Collins, admitted she purchased the gun for her brother, Quintell Collins, who was a convicted felon.
Daquela was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of extended supervision.
Quintell received 17 years in prison and eight years of extended supervision.
