An annual fish boil is helping an area fire department raise money for new equipment this year.
The Town of Two Rivers Fish Boil gets underway tomorrow (July 31st) from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at their fire station in the Town of Shoto.
Fire Chief Mark Leichtfuss tells Seehafernews.com that this year they are looking to buy an updated Jaws of Life, used to get people out of cars after an accident.
The current version they have runs on cables, while the newer Jaws of Life “Runs off of M18 batteries and (it’s) about half the weight of our old tools.”
Chief Leichtfuss says this fish for the Town’s fish boil will be haddock and again prepared by volunteer firefighters.
A plate with fixings like coleslaw and bread will cost $18.00.
They are also offering their pork steak for $16.00.
Anyone interested in both can buy a plate for $22.00.
There will also be kids’ meals along with ice cream and pie for dessert.
Chief Leichtfuss says the department’s fish boil is enjoyed by the community every year.
“I’m always surprised and grateful for how many people come out and support us,” he stated.
There will also be more than 75 raffle items and a silent auction.
