Governor Tony Evers has declared a state of emergency following a tornado that touched down in Appleton.
The governor says the declaration for eastern Wisconsin will ensure state agencies work efficiently with local agencies and utilities to handle the damage.
Evers is also thanking “neighbors, emergency and first responders, local partners, and volunteers who are already working to help restore essential services, clean up neighborhoods and assess the damages.”
WEM is already working with counties to assess the storm’s damage and determine the resources needed for recovery.
