The competency of a Two Rivers woman facing a long list of child abuse charges is being questioned.
42-year-old Anna R. Reichard was back in court earlier this month for a bail hearing where her legal counsel argued to get her $20,000 cash bail lowered.
The state denied the motion; however, issues of competency were also raised at that hearing.
In turn, Judge Jerilyn Dietz ordered Reichard to undergo a competency exam to see if she is able to understand and assist her attorney in the legal process of her case.
The 42-year-old has been charged with four felony counts of Child Abuse-Intentionally Cause Harm, and one count each of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Strangulation and Suffocation, Causing Mental Harm to a Child, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child.
These charges stem from a long line of alleged abuse of a child who is now 15 years old, dating back to 2022.
Reichard has a history of this sort of abusive behavior toward children that she is accused of, twice being convicted of similar charges in Sheboygan County, one of which ended with prison time after being found guilty of Neglecting a Child, Consequence is Bodily Harm.
Reichard will now return to court on Wednesday (July 29th) for a competency hearing.
