A long-running celebration of Sheboygan County’s Dutch roots is returning this weekend.
Cedar Grove’s 78th annual Holland Festival will be held this weekend between Friday (July 24th) and Sunday (July 26th).
Holland Fest will open at 3:00 p.m. on Friday with Dutch traditions of street scrubbing, Klompendansen, and wood shoe races, while additional entertainment will include a petting zoo, an aerial performance, live music, and more.
Saturday’s festivities will be kicked off with a two-mile run/walk, and a 10k starting at Independence Park, followed by a car, truck, and motorcycle show from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., a craft fair featuring over 50 vendors, wooden shoe carving demonstrations, and various other events and performances.
Finally, the festival will come to a close on Sunday with a worship service set for 6:00 p.m. in Memorial Park.
This annual celebration aims to honor and remember Cedar Grove’s deep Dutch roots, which began in the 1840’s when Gerrit Kolste purchased the land that eventually became Cedar Grove.
