The Shoreland League’s newest franchise has shocked baseball fans around the area.
The Manitowoc White Caps hosted the Kewaunee Chiefs at Bruce Steinbecker Field last night in a battle of two teams experiencing very different seasons.
The Chiefs entered he contest a perfect 9-0, having scored 31 more runs than they have allowed.
Manitowoc, on the other hand, sat fourth in the league at 3-6 while allowing 36 more runs than they have scored.
But the script was flipped last night, as the Caps handed the Chiefs their first loss of the season, a 13-3 whoping in their final regular season home game of the season.
There is no time to celebrate, as the Caps are right back at it tonight at Perry Field in Algoma, where they will take on the 1-7 Guins.
The other game on the local baseball schedule tonight finds the Ashwaubenon Lookouts taking on the Green Bay Blue Ribbons at Joannes Stadium.
Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
