Wisconsin’s District 1 Senator is looking back on his career in politics as his time in office draws ever closer to its end.
Senator Andre Jacque began his career in politics in 2010, when he was first elected to represent Wisconsin’s 2nd Assembly District.
He held that position until 2019, when he moved over to the 1st Senate District.
He did try to move up the ladder to Washington in 2024, but Tony Wied ended up earning the Republican nomination for the 8th Congressional District.
During his time in Madison, Sen. Jacque has been a busy man, crafting many bills covering a wide array of topics.
“My constituents have been the driving force behind bringing so many of these ideas to the legislature’s attention,” he told SeehaferNews.com. “I am grateful that they have trusted me with their stories. Sometimes borne out of great loss and suffering to enact meaningful, effective, and even lifesaving change measures.”
Some of those bills have even expanded into other states and into the national consciousness, including Dillon’s Law, Ethan’s Law, post-traumatic stress coverage for first responders, the recently enacted stillbirth tax credit, and much more.
While he is proud of the work he has done in Madison, Sen. Jacque tells SeehaferNews.com the most important thing to him has always been the constituents.
“I am grateful for the friendship and trust you have invested in me,” he said. “It has been a blessing beyond anything I could have expected to serve the people of Northeast Wisconsin as their voice in the state legislature.”
He also gave some insight into what the voters should be looking for in his successor.
“As you choose your next state senator, look for someone who is accessible, has the courage to stand by their principles, and understands that they are working for our community, not Madison or the special interests,” he encouraged the voters.
Sen. Jacque thanked “all who have given me this opportunity,” adding “God bless you.”
