Roger C. Sorenson, age 81 of Manitowoc, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, Sheboygan Falls.
Roger was born on September 22, 1944, in Manitowoc, son of the late Claude and Mildred (Lutze) Sorenson. He attended schools in Valders and graduated with the class of 1962 from Valders High School. Roger served in the National Guard for 6 years. He was employed at Mike Wallander Construction for 24 years and then the City of Manitowoc for 23 years until his retirement in 2009. Roger was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, and the Manitowoc County Historical Society. He enjoyed playing softball for 35 years, gardening, Milwaukee Brewers, going to flea markets, Late’s for breakfast and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Roger was always there to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors.
Roger is survived by two children: Amy (Neil) Meissner, Cleveland, Matthew (Tanyia) Sorenson, Valders; six grandchildren: Colby, Gavin, Ethan, Audrey, Grace, Anders; mother of his children and lifelong friend: Joyce Sorenson, Manitowoc; two sisters and two brothers: Beverly Markovics, Manitowoc, Leroy (Karen) Sorenson, Manitowoc, Mardell Tienor, Manitowoc, Paul (Theresa) Sorenson, Valders; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Mildred Sorenson; one daughter: Bethany Sorenson; two brothers-in-law: Joe Markovics and Donald Tienor.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Faith Lutheran Church, 255 W Roosevelt St., Valders. Rev. Dan Lyman will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gjerpen Cemetery.
