A local counseling provider has received significant state funding.
Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) recently announced that they have awarded $890,000 in worker training grants to nine organizations across the state.
One of those recipients is Sheboygan’s very own Life Point Counseling.
Life Point’s grant is worth $193,635 and will directly fund the training of 32 individuals.
These trainees include 12 unemployed or underemployed individuals and 20 incumbent workers, while the training will “support job placement and increased wages, and expand services while reducing wait times and increasing local care.”
This funding was made possible through the DWD’s Wisconsin Fast Forward program, which aims to reimburse the cost of employee training used to strengthen the state’s workforce.
On the grant funding, Gov. Evers said, “These grants are a win-win-win for our workforce, economy, and communities, and I am proud of our work to secure these funds and build on our efforts to uplift Wisconsin’s workforce for years to come.”
