A Sheboygan County woman was found dead in Lake Michigan over the weekend.
The Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center was called just before 5:00 Sunday evening on a report of a woman floating motionless in Lake Michigan near the 200 block of Juniper Drive in the Town of Wilson.
First responders administered CPR, but the 80-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene.
The woman, who is said to be from the Sheboygan area, had reportedly been seen walking in the water less than an hour prior, leading investigators to believe she had either accidentally drowned or suffered a medical event.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by first responders from the Town of Wilson, the Wilson, Sheboygan, and Oostburg Fire Departments, and Orange Cross Ambulance.
