Manitowoc’s Plan Commission is moving a much-anticipated housing project into its final stage.
The commission approved the final plat for the Mariners Lux Subdivision, which will be built on the former Mid-Cities and Lakeshore Mall properties.
It includes more than 40 home lots and two new streets to be built.
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels tells Seehafernews.com that construction will begin very soon by developer Tycore Built.
“They’re looking at doing probably around 10 single-family homes that they are going to start within the next few days and week here, that they should be, if all goes well,” he explained. “And then probably one multi-family complex with about seven units that they are looking at.”
Manitowoc has been working for years to develop the former mall sites after the area was blighted back in 2023.
The city eventually purchased the property in 2024, then sold it to Tycore for new construction.
Along with single- and multi-family homes, there will be land for business development.
