The Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Department is announcing another big park project.
On his Facebook page, Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels says the focus will be on building a Community Playground at Henry Schuette Park.
Nickels explains that for 20 years, the current playground has been a cherished destination for families and visitors.
As the equipment comes to the end of its life, the city allocated funds in its budget to develop a master plan, partnering with Ayres Associates and engaging residents through workshops and surveys.
The equipment at Henry Schuette Park will be a nature-focused adventure playground serving all ages and abilities.
The concept plan is not yet in final design, but it includes a collection of ideas that emerged from community input, highlighting updated playground equipment, natural landscapes, flexible gathering spaces, and enhanced trail connections.
Nickels ends his statement saying that while the current playground holds many memories, maintenance and repair costs have become too high.
By investing in a new master plan, “we can ensure Henry Schuette Park remains a welcoming, inclusive, and exciting destination for generations to come!”
