Manitowoc County’s Congressman in Washington says there needs to be national data showing the number of crimes committed by illegal immigrants.
Representative Glenn Grothman was part of the House Judiciary Committee’s Sanctuary Policies: Victims’ Perspective” hearing.
Rep. Grothman says that stories were told of “heartbreaking testimony from Angel Families or parents whose children were killed by people who are in the country illegally.”
The Glenbeulah Republican says those numbers are not tracked.
“We’ve got a federal prison in Wisconsin, and I have toured the federal prison,” he explained. “I asked the warden of the federal prison how many of these people here are in this prison, are people who are illegal? He has no idea. So whenever you hear a politician say that people who are here illegally are committing less crimes, the native born, they don’t have a clue.”
Rep. Grothman says hundreds of thousands of people are legally sworn in in the United States, which he calls a high number.
He also claimed that the Democratic Party is trying to change the country as quickly as possible by allowing anyone in.
In a statement, Rep. Grothman says anyone who comes into the country illegally has broken the law and should be removed.
He finished by saying he will continue to work to “secure our border, enforce our immigration laws, and put the safety of American families first.”
