Someone’s 4th of July plans are out the window after a major fireworks seizure.
The Oshkosh Police Department began investigating the sale of illegal fireworks from a stand in the 800 block of North Washburn Street.
It was learned that the fireworks on display at the stand were, in fact, legal, but there were thousands of dollars worth of illegal fireworks in a trailer, parked away from the stand.
In total, over 600 fireworks were seized, worth an estimated $29,000.
The Oshkosh Police Department noted, “Fireworks may be enjoyable, but they can also cause distress to many in our community, especially those with PTSD or noise sensitivities. Loud explosions can also have a negative effect on pets, causing them undue stress and potential harm. Let’s keep Oshkosh safe and considerate for all.”
