Local charities will once again be competing for cash prizes at one of Sheboygan’s most historic annual events.
This summer’s 73rd annual Brat Days will be accompanied by the 12th annual Charity Challenge, with area nonprofits competing to compile the most volunteer hours at the two-day event set for July 31st and August 1st.
This year’s finalists for the Charity Challenge will be the Brat City Baggers, Family Service Association and Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Freedom Cry Inc., Habitat for Humanity Lakeside, Paws Up Pet Rescue, the Sheboygan Athletic Club, the Sheboygan Falls Dance Association, and Warm Kids Wisconsin.
Throughout Brat Days, tip jars will be placed at the food areas and beer stands.
The tips will then be distributed amongst the eight finalists based on the amount of volunteer hours each put in.
In addition to a larger percentage of tip revenue, the first, second, and third groups will also receive $500, $200, and $100 prizes, respectively.
Paws Up Pet Rescue, last year’s winner of the Charity Challenge, received just over $1,100 for the work they put in.
