Manitowoc’s 19U American Legion baseball team suffered its first loss of the season yesterday.
Post 88 traveled to De Pere, where they fell 7-6 in 8 innings.
Manitowoc found themselves in a 4-1 hole early, but they were able to claw their way back and tie it with a 3-run 7th inning and took a 1-run lead in the 8th.
However, a fielder’s choice and an error scored two runs for De Pere, giving them the win.
Cade Grapentine and Aiden Reinke each drove in two runs for Post 88, while Jake Hilmer and Cameron Shilts split time on the mound, striking out six batters between them.
The loss drops Post 88 to 7-1 on the season, as they get ready for the Marinette Firecracker Tournament this weekend.
