The Wisconsin Athletic Association’s Board of Control this (Tuesday) morning has approved a regulated 35-second shot clock for boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball games that can begin as early as this upcoming season.
Schools will be permitted to use it in non-conference games this season and next, provided both teams agree to a full, mandatory implementation across all varsity basketball games, effective for the 2028-2029 season.
The vote was 10-1 in favor, with the full WIAA membership voting on the proposed 2028-29 statewide mandate at their 2027 annual meeting.
