
It was a highly successful weekend for the Manitowoc American Legion baseball team at the Baraboo Quinn Mueller Memorial Tournament.
Post 88 began with an 11-1 trouncing of Beloit. Aaron Stephany (ste-FAH-nee) and Jake Hilmer each went 3-4 and combined for 3 RBI, and split time on the mound.
Benson Dickrell and Cade Grapentine drove in two runs apiece in the win.
Game two against the host Baraboo squad was highlighted by a 10-run 6th inning, which earned Post 88 a 14-3 win.
Aiden Reinke and Carter Neu teamed up to drive in 6 runs, while Joel Shimek struck out seven batters on the mound.
Post 88 continued their perfect start to the season with a 3-0 win over Viroqua Sunday morning.
All three Manitowoc runs came in the 1st inning, and the pitching took over for Post 88.
Cade Grapentine and Hayden Dewane split time on the mound, striking out 4 batters and allowing only 3 hits.
With the wins, Post 88 improved to 7-0 on the season, and will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to De Pere.
