Students from the Two Rivers High School Marine Ecology class have returned home after an exciting and educational trip to the MarineLab Environmental Education Center in Key Largo, Florida.
During the week, students experienced marine life up close by swimming with manatees, following sea turtles, holding sea slugs, and observing several shark species, including a bonnethead shark.
The group also participated in hands-on science activities, including fish population surveys, seagrass studies, water quality testing, and microplastic assessments.
These projects allowed students to learn how scientists study and protect marine ecosystems.
The trip gave students the opportunity to explore the unique environment of the Florida Keys while applying what they have learned in the classroom.
It was a week filled with adventure, learning, and unforgettable experiences. Students returned to Two Rivers with new knowledge about marine life, conservation, and environmental science, as well as memories that will last a lifetime.
