The Kiel Raider Girls Soccer Team fell to top-seed McFarland by a score of 2-0 in the WIAA Division Three state title game Saturday night at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
McFarland got on the board at the 24:59 mark of the first half on a goal scored by Bergen Westrum and added a second goal at the 48:36 mark of the second half, scored by Allison Charbonneau, her 29th of the season.
McFarland Goalkeeper Jaylah Moore, whom Kiel head coach Mike Pritchard called one of the best he’s seen play on the high school level, faced just five Kiel shots, with senior Taavi Saeger taking three of those.
She ends her fabulous career scoring 52 goals this season alone, and despite the loss, she tells seehafernews.com that it’s truly been a blessing to play for and represent Kiel High School.
” These past four years have been extraordinary for sure. It’s been special making it to the state tournament all four years of my career. It’s been amazing to represent the city of Kiel.”
The Raiders have qualified for the state tournament for the last five consecutive years, having won a Division Four state title in 2023 and a silver ball in 2026. (Mike) Pritchard says he’s very proud of this team, especially the seniors and the legacy they’ll leave behind.
” They’ve been great leaders all four years, having contributed so much to the success of Kiel Soccer.” Pritchard adds—
“We’ve been very fortunate to have had the run we’ve had the last five years and, in my opinion, if not for the COVID year in 2021, I feel we could have made a deep run as well.”
Kiel goalkeeper Mya Langenfeld suffered her first loss of the year as she faced 15 Spartan shots.
The Raders finish 2026 with a record of 25-1-1, while McFarland finishes their championship season with a record of 18-0-4.
A reminder that the Raiders will be our special guests on WOMT Sports Talk tomorrow (Monday) night, airing from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m.at Salute to Everyone, located at 1107 South 10th Street in Manitowoc.
