Lakeshore College is set to receive a $10,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
This funding will go toward Lakeshores College’s Adult Education and Family Literacy Act programs, which will help adults develop the academic, language, and workforce skills needed to achieve their future goals.
This award comes from a day of giving by the foundation, where they gave out nearly 16 million dollars in support of adult, family, and summer learning programs.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation supports organizations that increase access to educational opportunities, promote innovation in literacy instruction, and inspire a love for reading.
Every year, the foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations, schools, and libraries located within 15 miles of a Dollar General.
The foundation also offers a student referral program for individuals interested in learning to read, improving
English language skills, or preparing for high school credits. To learn more, visit DGLiteracy.org.
