Legal counsel has been appointed for a Manitowoc woman charged in a shooting case.
Court records show that 30-year-old Julia N. Gundt now has a lawyer, allowing her case to once again move forward as Michael Turner has been selected to represent her.
This comes as Gundt’s previous lawyer, Ann Larson, chose to withdraw from the case in May for an undisclosed reason.
The 30-year-old has been charged with felony counts of First-Degree Reckless Injury and First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, each with Use of a Dangerous Weapon, as well as a misdemeanor charge of Operating a Firearm while Intoxicated.
These charges stem from an incident that occurred at a residence in the 2000 block of Johnston Drive on February 9th.
It is alleged that Gundt and the victim were drinking heavily the previous night, with Gundt continuing to do so into the morning of February 9th.
That morning, an altercation ensued, leading the 30-year-old to allegedly find a firearm and shoot the victim in the legs through the bathroom door.
It was later revealed that at the time of the shooting, two children were inside the residence as well.
Upon being reappointed legal counsel through the Public Defenders program, Gundt will return to court on July 21st.
