The Manitowoc Public School District’s Facilities Advisory Committee will be getting back to work soon.
That was the committee that worked to right-size the district, which included closing two elementary schools.
Superintendent Lee Thennes explained to the school board on Tuesday that Phase Two of the committee’s work will focus on evaluating the future of Washington and Wilson Middle School as well as Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
Invitations were sent to district and community members who had previously served on the committee.
But this time, Thennes says, they won’t be separated at first.
Thennes explained, saying, “It’s not necessary, and we were advised to bring everyone together for this conversation.”
Meetings will begin on June 18th and will be held monthly through the remainder of this year and into next year.
There is no proposal on the table for the middle and high schools’ futures at this time, with Thennes saying the committee is working with a “blank slate.”
School board members also recommended looking for student representation on the committee.
