A Waupaca man was arrested in Fond du Lac after a bizarre incident.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a road rage incident on I-41 just after 10:45 Tuesday evening, where the driver of a pickup truck was following another vehicle and making hand gestures towards the vehicle.
The driver of the victim vehicle told the Fond du Lac County Communications Center that he was fearful for his family’s safety, so he was directed to drive to a nearby Walmart in the City of Fond du Lac.
The truck driver followed, continuing to act erratically, and fled from police when they approached.
He led Sheriff’s deputies on a short, high-speed chase, eventually pulling into the parking lot of a Kwik Trip, where the victim vehicle had gone in an attempt to elude the man.
The store went on lockdown, and multiple agencies swarmed the scene for a high-risk traffic stop.
The man was finally taken into custody without further incident.
The 52-year-old man was arrested on charges of Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, four counts of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and two counts of Disorderly Conduct.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac Police Departments for their assistance.
