
The WIAA State Girls Softball Tournament saw its first upset in only the second game.
#6-ranked Appleton North knocked off the #3-seeded Stevens Point 10-3 in the Division 1 Quarterfinals on the back of a 3 RBI performance by Drew Brown.
Charlotte Radtke went the distance on the mound, allowing 7 hits, but she also struck out 6 batters in the win.
Hot bats were the story of the day, as #2 Muskego opened up the tournament with a 14-8 win over #7 Marshfield, thanks to 4 RBI from Lily George.
In game 3 of the day, Hamilton shutout #8 West Allis Hale/Central 10-0, with Charger pitcher Bitsy Palicka allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 12 batters.
The action on Goodman Diamond in Madison continues today, with the last Division 1 Quarterfinal game, where #4 Sun Prairie East faces #5 Union Grove.
Then it will be the Division 5 semifinals as #1 Belmont battles #4 Athens, followed by a matchup between #2 Almond Bancroft and #3 Blair-Taylor.
They will then move on to the Division 4 Semis, with #1 Grantsburg facing #4 Johnson Creek, followed by #2 Mineral Point vs #3 Marathon.
Closing out the day will be the first Division 1 Semifinal, where Appleton North will try for their second upset in as many days, as the #6 Lightning will face #2 Muskego.
The other D1 Semifinal and the Division 2 Semifinals will be held on Friday, and Champions will be crowned on Saturday.
