One person has died following a crash in Outagamie County.
FOX11 reports that the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of West Wisconsin Avenue and Glenview Drive in the Village of Greenville at 10:30 Tuesday night on a report of a single vehicle crash.
Authorities were alerted by the driver’s automated crash detection alert system on his iPhone.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling east on West Wisconsin Avenue when they lost control, went into the ditch, and over-corrected to get back on the roadway.
This caused the minivan to cross over into the westbound lane, enter the other ditch, and eventually hit a tree.
The 64-year-old Grand Chute man behind the wheel was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, while a 58-year-old Grand Chute woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol was said to have potentially been a factor.
