Two Rivers’ City Manager is talking about the city’s economic future.
Kyle Kordell says it won’t be determined by what happened decades ago, but will focus on positioning the community to compete for opportunities today and in the future.
While it won’t likely include a giant manufacturer with hundreds of employees, it will include building a diversified local economy with many sources of growth.
Kordell tells SeehaferNews.com, “This means housing development. This means helping local entrepreneurs succeed. Working with existing manufacturers, of which we have plenty in Two Rivers, to expand operations right here. And it means embracing the growing tourism economy. All of that.”
Kordell says he sees the Cool City as a community building momentum rather than one that’s become stagnant.
“A stagnant community doesn’t see property values increase by 16% in a single year,” he stated. “A stagnant community doesn’t surpass $1 billion, with a B, $1 billion in total equalized value. And a stagnant community doesn’t generate more than $7 million in construction activity in just the first five months of the year.”
The city also wants to continue helping new and established businesses.
Kordell says the city is working with Renee’ Popcorn ‘ on an expansion, along with supporting a small industrial user called Flavor Hut as they establish a new location.
He also mentioned investments in the Cool City Motel, The Violet Inn, and Rush Logistics. Kordell wrapped up by saying:
“I see businesses growing, investors believing in the future of this place like I do, and people choosing to call Two Rivers home,” he explained. “Based on the levels of investment we’re seeing, development activity, and the huge amount of community pride we see in Two Rivers every day, I know the future of Two Rivers is brighter than the past.”
The Two Rivers, WI, City Hall Facebook page also noted that there has been $7.3 million in construction activity and that permit revenue is $110,179, nearly double the previous year.
