An argument over a basketball game at an Oshkosh pool took a dangerous turn over the weekend.
The Oshkosh Police Department was called to Pollock Pool on Taft Avenue just after 4:00 Saturday evening on a report of a fight between adults and juveniles.
Investigators learned that some people were playing basketball in the pool when the ball plashed a nearby adult.
This adult then shoved one of the juveniles, leading to a larger physical disturbance. In total, six people were cited for Disorderly Conduct.
A 53-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man, and a 20-year-old female, all from Oshkosh, were also charged with Physical Abuse to a Child, while a 17-year-old Oshkosh female was charged with Felony Bail Jumping and Physical Abuse to a Child.
The other two people arrested were a 36-year-old West Allis woman and a 15-year-old male from Oshkosh.
Then, just ender an hour later, police were called to a residence near East Melvin Avenue and North Main Street for a disturbance involving a weapon.
This was a continuation of the incident at the pool, and the 20-year-old woman reportedly discharged a firearm during another large disturbance.
The woman is now also facing charges of Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The Oshkosh Police Department said of the incident, “Community spaces, including our parks and pool, are meant to be safe places for everyone to gather and enjoy. Acts of violence and reckless behavior threaten that sense of safety and will not be tolerated.”
