In June Dairy Month, we need to work together to help our farms prosper and stay active.
June Dairy Month is a celebration of farming traditions and innovations. It is used to bring awareness to the fact that many farms are struggling right now.
Dairy Together says that while farm sizes have grown since June Dairy Month was first recognized in 1937, the number of farms has decreased by 63%.
A major cause of this is government policies and industrial practices favoring mass production of products over those made by family farms.
This is causing a surplus of milk on the shelves, which makes prices drop and farmers to not make a profit.
