A solid outing on the mound from Bennett Johnson helped lead the Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team to a WIAA Regional Semifinal win last night.
In his last start on Bruce Steinbecker Field, the Senior Pitcher for the Ships went 6 and one-third innings to earn the 7-2 win over Sheboygan North.
The Ships got on the board early, scoring one run in the 1st and 3rd innings, but each time, the Golden Raiders would respond with a run of their own.
In the bottom of the 4th, the Ships took control, plating 3 runs, thanks in part to a wild pitch, and a sac fly by Bentley Henrickson.

The freshman wasn’t done playing the offensive hero, as he would also belt a two-run homer over the left field wall in the bottom of the 6th inning to give the Ships the cushion they needed to secure the win.
Johnson, who struck out 8 batters and gave up 5 hits, was also aided by solid defensive play.
The Ships only committed a single error, which did not result in any runs, and Benson Dickrell unleashed a rocket from left field to shoot down a potential double.
With the win, Manitowoc Lincoln moves on to face the unbeaten Germantown Warhawks this Thursday with a Regional championship on the line.
First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m.
