Manitowoc is making a change to its social media accounts.
Comments and direct messages have been turned off on the City of Manitowoc Facebook page.
City leaders say social media is used as a limited public information forum to inform and educate residents, businesses, and visitors about city services, programs, news, and events.
Turning off comments allows staff to respond more efficiently through direct channels like Manitowoc.org or by contacting a resident’s alderperson.
The City of Manitowoc’s Facebook page will remain active and continue to serve as an information resource for city news, updates, and announcements.
Residents can still comment on other city-run pages, unless comments have been turned off.
