A Sheboygan County jury has determined the fate of a Sheboygan man who was shot by police in 2024.
25-year-old Tommie Dixon was found guilty of attempted homicide during a three-day trial.
The jury also found Dixon guilty on charges of disarming a peace officer, resisting or obstructing an officer, and three bail-jumping charges from a separate court case.
Day one of the trial focused on the two officers involved in the incident that led to one of them shooting the 25-year-old.
District Attorney Joel Urmanski showed video evidence of the incident after Sheboygan Police were called to the area near 13th and Superior Streets for a person with a gun near a chiropractic clinic.
After providing a fake name, officers testified that Dixon was able to get a gun out of one of their holsters before he was shot multiple times.
An officer from the West Bend Police Department testified on day two that the 25-year-old took the gun from the officer so they wouldn’t shoot him during an interview he conducted with the suspect.
Dixon decided not to testify on his own behalf before the jury was asked to deliberate on day three of the trial.
The 25-year-old could get up to sixty years in prison for the attempted homicide verdict.
He will be sentenced on July 24th in Judge Rebecca Persick’s courtroom.
