For the first time in 46-years, the Mishicot boys golf team has earned a regional championship.
The Indians were a part of the Division 3 Regional meet at Thornberry Creek yesterday, where they not only beat eight other teams, they shot 21 strokes better than the runner-up, Gibraltar.
The Indians also had the top three golfers of the day, with Dane Moore carding a meet best 6 over par 78, and Elden Stephan and Marson Kowalski each three strokes back.
The win advances Mishicot to the sectional round, along with the aforementioned Vikings, Reedsville, which shot a 72 over par 360 to earn 3rd place, and Roncalli, whose 78 over par 366 was good for fourth.
Freshman Jack Krueger led the way for the Panthers with a 12 over par 84, good for 5th place, while the Jets’ Carter Kilbride shot a 15 over par 87, good for 7th place.
Elsewhere, also in Division 3, Kohler shot 11 strokes better than Lourdes Academy at Autumn Ridge Golf Course to claim the 4-A Regional.
Those teams also advance to the sectional round, along with 3rd place Howards Grove, and Valders, which was led by Gunner Winginton’s 11th place finish as he shot a 16 over par 86.
And in the Division 1 Regional at Quit Qui Oc Golf Club in Elkhart Lake, Cedarburg, Grafton, Sheboygan North, and Plymouth filled out the top four.
