One of Manitowoc County’s compost sites has been temporarily closed.
The site on Woodland Drive will be closed for now because of the amount of brush and branches being dropped after recent storms.
The site will reopen after materials are processed and removed in the coming weeks.
Compost sites on Woodland and Basswood Road can handle a normal amount of brush and branches generated by area residents throughout the year, including some moderate storm damage.
But they can become overwhelmed after severe storms affect large regions.
Residents can still drop off brush and branches at the Basswood site.
It is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
