The Kiel baseball team narrowly kept its perfect regular season alive last night in front of a home crowd.
The Raiders hosted the Oconto Blue Devils at Belitz Park, where they snuck out a 4-3 win. Oconto would strike first, plating a run in each of the first two innings, while the Blue Devil pitching staff held the Raiders to one run through 5 innings.
With their backs against the wall, the Raiders scored a pair of runs in the 6th, but the Blue Devils struck back in the 7th, taking a 3-3 tie into the bottom of the final frame.
The Raiders walked it off with a run in the bottom of the 7th to secure their 18th win of the season.
Ben Gross led the offensive attack with a pair of RBI on as many hits, while also scoring twice.
Fellow senior Teagan Schleh also drove home a run, while Aaron Stephany and Colton Schaefer teamed up on the mound to strike out four batters in the win.
The Raiders will try to complete the perfect regular season tonight as they travel to Sturgeon Bay.
Kiel will begin its postseason push next Tuesday (June 2nd) when they will take on the winner of the game between North Fond du Lac/Oakfield and Kohler/Sheboygan Christian.
