A weekend garage fire in Kiel resulted in damage to two properties.
The Kiel Fire Department was dispatched to the 600 block of 9th Street just after 4:00 Saturday evening on a report of a garage fire.
Crews arrived to find a detached garage engulfed in flames so hot, they caused damage to a neighboring home and garage.
The flames were extinguished within 10 minutes of the department’s arrival, but they stayed on the scene for around two and a half hours to conduct overhaul operations.
The fire was said to have originated in the garage, but the cause has yet to be determined. No injuries were reported.
The fire was estimated to have caused $150,000 in damage.
As a part of their investigation, the Kiel Fire Department is asking for anyone with photos or videos of the fire prior to the department’s arrival to send them to PIO Ben Jeanty at Benjamin/jeanty@kielwi.gov.
