A competency hearing has been set for a Manitowoc man charged after allegedly making inappropriate comments to a child.
Court records show that 33-year-old Raymond S. Wynne was back in court this week as he faces one count of Disorderly Conduct, which carries a repeater modifier.
At that hearing, Judge Jerilyn Dietz ordered Wynne to undergo a competency evaluation, an evaluation that will determine if he is able to understand the court proceedings and reasonably assist his attorney in his defense.
The 33-year-old has been accused of approaching a group of children at the Manitowoc Public Library in January to ask them how old they were.
He then walked away, only to return and ask one of the children if they “wanted to lose their virginity.”
After the incident, Manitowoc Police were called to the library, where they were able to locate and arrest Wynne, who admitted to asking the children their age but denied asking if they wanted to lose their virginity.
Wynne will now be back in court on June 23rd for that competency hearing. Until then, he is free on a $1,000 signature bond.
