One person was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire in Manitowoc.
Manitowoc Fire Rescue was called to the 600 block of N. 5th Street just after 2:05 a.m. this morning.
Fire crews found that the occupants had evacuated and that the fire was in the home’s basement.
While Manitowoc firefighters began working on the fire, other crews searched the property and removed two cats.
The blaze was brought under control in 20 minutes. Manitowoc Fire Rescue upgraded the fire to a MABAS alarm to bring an additional ambulance to the scene.
They also noted that the residents were able to evacuate because their smoke detectors were working.
They also thanked Branch and Two Rivers Fire Departments, along with Valders Ambulance, for their response.
