Wisconsin’s Sixth District congressman is recognizing National Police Week this week.
On the floor of the U.S. House, Representative Glenn Grothman recognized three officers, including former Wisconsin State Trooper Trevor Casper of Kiel.
Rep. Grothman, their courage, sacrifice, and dedication deserve not only gratitude but continued support.
He first recognized Milwaukee Officer Kendall Corder and Racine Police Officer Joshua LaForge, who were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, after dying in the line of duty.
“Their service and sacrifice serve as a powerful reminder of the risk law enforcement officers face every day,” he stated. “And of the countless families in communities forever changed by their loss.”
Rep. Grothman then spoke about Trooper Casper, whose life’s dream was to work in law enforcement.
“He was just 21 years old, so tragic,” he lamented. “Trooper Casper’s bravery in the face of danger and his commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten. Trevor is also a reminder that there are countless law enforcement officers across this country who quietly make extraordinary sacrifices in service of their communities.”
Casper was shot and killed in Fond du Lac County while trying to arrest a suspected bank robbery and murder suspect.
However, Casper shot and killed the suspect before succumbing to his injuries.
Last year, Rep. Grothman honored the 10th anniversary of his death by getting the U.S. Post Office in Kiel to be renamed the Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office.
