Charges have been formally filed against a man accused of drunkenly fleeing from Manitowoc Police.
A $3,000 cash bail was given to 32-year-old Joel Pacheco-Alvarez yesterday (May 18th) as he faces charges of Operating While Intoxicated, 5th, Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Fleeing/Eluding.
These charges arose after an officer with the Manitowoc Police Department witnessed a vehicle driven by Pacheco-Alvarez blow a stop sign at North 11th Street and Riverpoint Drive at approximately 40 MPH.
The 32-year-old was also seen driving on the wrong side of the road after failing to stop at the stop sign.
When an attempt to pull the vehicle over was made, Pacheco-Alvarez fled at an increased speed.
After abandoning his vehicle on the railroad tracks on the corner of Madison Street and Lakeview Drive, he was later seen staggering on South Lake Street and placed under arrest.
As part of his bail, Pacheco-Alvarez was also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety, and he is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
He will be back inside a Manitowoc County courtroom for his initial appearance on May 26th at 1:30 p.m. in Branch 1.
