The City of Two Rivers is providing details on cleanup after storms that ripped through the area over the weekend.
Residents are being asked to avoid driving or walking through city cemeteries due to numerous trees getting knocked down and several large branches remaining overhead.
Two parks also sustained significant damage.
Those who live in Two Rivers should avoid Lakeshore and Vietnam Veterans Park. An entire dugout was destroyed, and metal backstops were heavily bent during the storm at Vietnam Veterans Park.
A playground at Lakeshore Park was damaged when a large tree fell onto the equipment.
There are also numerous other trees and hanging limbs remaining around the park system, and residents are asked to stay clear.
To help residents with the storms, the City of Two Rivers is working to provide a convenient cleanup process by collecting storm-related tree debris from residents.
Anyone with debris should leave two separate piles by the roadside by tomorrow morning (May 19th).
Smaller debris piles should not be larger than five feet in length and six feet in diameter.
Anything larger should be placed in its own.
Permit fees have also been reduced for storm-related building and fence repairs.
Through the end of June, qualifying storm-related repair permits will be reduced to the city’s minimum fee of $100.
This is only for the storms from the weekend. Residents must submit photographs along with the application.
City Manager Kyle Kordell finishes saying that the storm serves as a reminder of the importance of public infrastructure, emergency preparedness, and regional cooperation.
