It was a busy Saturday for the Kiel girls’ soccer team as they played three games as part of the Kiel Invite.
Game one was pretty smooth sailing, as the Raiders dominated Sturgeon Bay 5-0.
Game two was a very different story.
The Raiders faced off against Manitowoc Lincoln and the leading scorer in school history, Sarah Bolchen.
Both teams buckled down on defense, with Kiel specifically focusing on Bolchen, allowing Deanna Schwaller to net the lone goal of the game on the other end, giving Kiel a 1-0 win.
Game three was back to usual for the Raiders, taking down Random Lake/Ozaukee 4-1.
Schwaller and Taavi Saeger led the way offensively all day, each netting three goals, while Ella Vandermeer added a pair, and Cara Madson rounded out the scoring.
The Kiel coaching staff issued a thank you to “the entire Kiel Soccer Family and Community for supporting OUR state championship soccer program and making it a successful day on the pitch.”
After this weekend’s action, the Raiders are now 17-0-1, and will get a few days to recover before traveling to Roncalli for a match on Thursday (May 21st).
