The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team travels to Pulaski this afternoon for a key FRCC matchup against the Red Raiders.
Both the Ships and Raiders, along with West De Pere, are tied for third in conference at 8- 6 as the season begins to wind down.
Manitowoc Lincoln is coming off a walk-off extra-inning win over Ashwaubenon on Tuesday, while Pulaski had won four of their previous five games before falling to De Pere 9-1 on Tuesday.
Junior Braun Wotruba is having an outstanding year for the Red Raiders as he leads them in just about every offensive category and sports a sparkling earned run average of point-89.
He defeated the Ships back on April 17th by a score of 3 to 1 as he went the distance, allowing just the one earned run on five hits.
The junior hurler allowed 6 walks but struck out 8.
Meanwhile, the Ships have gotten better-balanced offensive production lately, but continue to be led by senior Cade Grapentine. who leads the team in multiple offensive categories, including hits (33) runs batted in (22), and runs scored (15).
He also has a staff leading 1.38 earned run average, but struggled against Pulaski a month ago, lasting just three innings as he walked three and struck out 4.
The winner of today’s game keeps their hopes alive for an upper-echelon finish in the FRCC.
The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 4:30 p.m. at Bob Van Lannen Field in Pulaski.
