Sheboygan has moved one step closer to increasing accessibility at numerous intersections across the city.
The Sheboygan Public Works Committee unanimously approved a contract with Buteyn-Peterson Construction Co., Inc., on Monday (May 11th) to make ADA curb ramp improvements at three intersections.
The contract will cost the City just over $373,000, and funding for the project was previously included in the 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Plan.
This project will aim to improve ADA accessibility by replacing curb ramps at the intersections of Onterio Avenue and North 11th Street, Clara Avenue and South 8th Street, and Clara Avenue and South 13th Street.
In addition to curb improvements, the contract also will include milling and paving on stretches of Ontario and Clara Avenues, as well as North 11th and 12th Streets.
This matter will now move in front of the Sheboygan Common Council for full approval at a future date.
If approved, City Engineer Kevin Jump expects construction to begin early this summer with a completion date sometime in late August or early September.
