A section of I-43 in Green Bay was completely closed off for nearly three hours yesterday afternoon.
The Green Bay Police Department dispatched officers to the Leo Frigo Bridge just before 2:45 p.m. to conduct a welfare check on an individual.
Traffic was rerouted around the bridge while police spoke with the unnamed individual, who was brought to safety at 5:30 p.m.
While the Green Bay Police Department did not specifically say why the welfare check was needed, they did encourage anyone who is experiencing a mental health crisis to call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.
