An Oshkosh man was arrested last night after he fired a weapon and threatened to harm police.
The Oshkosh Police Department was called after a 44-year-old man had gone to a residence in the 100 block of North Eagle Street and fired a shot into the front door.
The suspect and the victim know each other, and no one was injured.
The suspect then made his way back to his home in the 1200 block of Armory Place, where officers issued a shelter-in-place order for residents of the area and set up a perimeter around the home.
The Oshkosh Police Department’s SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Drone Team, along with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT team, also responded to the incident.
After several hours, negotiators were unable to resolve the situation, so chemical munitions were deployed into the home.
The suspect exited the home and surrendered without further incident.
He was arrested on charges of Intentionally Pointing a Firearm at a Law Enforcement Officer, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Disorderly Conduct, and Threats to Law Enforcement Officers.
