The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team made it two wins in as many days as they walked off Ashwaubenon in an FRCC battle.
It was a back-and-forth affair at Bruce Steinbecker Field that ended up going 8 innings, but in the end, the Ships got the last laugh, earning the 8-7 win.
The Ships started off strong, plating 4 runs through the first 3 innings, but the Jaguars would claw their way back in with four runs of their own in the 4th and 5th and 2 more in the 7th.
Down by a run, the Ships called on Nick Minikel in the 7th inning to drive home a run to force extras.
Cade Grapentine kept the bases clean for the final inning and one-third, allowing Benson Dickrell to drive home the winning run on a fielder’s choice.
Minikel had a busy day, pitching nearly 7 innings while also accounting for 2 of the Ships’ 6 hits, including 1 RBI.
Grapentine earned the win on the mound while also reaching base twice and scoring once.
The win brings the Ships up to 12-8 on the season and 8-6 in conference games, leaving them in a three-way tie for 3rd place in the FRCC.
While the conference title is out of reach, Manitowoc Lincoln will try to climb higher up the ranks on Friday when they travel to Pulaski.
