Two Milwaukee residents have been arrested after attempting to smuggle drugs into an area prison.
The Oshkosh Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit was called to the Oshkosh Correctional Institution Monday evening (May 11th) on a report of contraband being brought into the facility.
Investigators spoke with a 24-year-old Milwaukee woman who was attempting to visit an inmate.
However, she was found to have two small balloons concealed on her person containing what was believed to be synthetic cannabinoids and Suboxone.
She was detained on a charge of Delivering Articles to an Inmate.
A 25-year-old Milwaukee man in the parking lot was also arrested on charges of Party to a Crime of Delivering Articles to an Inmate, Felony Bail Jumping, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
The Oshkosh Police Department said of the incident, “Attempts to introduce illegal drugs into a prison endanger both staff and inmates. The Oshkosh Police Department will continue to work closely with our corrections partners and remain vigilant in our efforts to prevent illegal drugs from entering correctional facilities.”
